When patients begin treatment for a new illness or condition, they are often eager to get better. However, many patients eventually drop out of their treatments, becoming what is called a “dropout.”
Patients can drop out of their treatments for a variety of reasons. In some cases, the patient may feel like they are not getting better or that the treatment is not helping. In other cases, the patient may have difficulty affording the treatments or dealing with the side effects.
Whatever the reason, it is important to understand why patients drop out so that steps can be taken to help them stay in their treatment.
